Daytime Dancing

Daytime clubs; what a genius idea! A group of friends decided that the plan of action this weekend was to go to see The Cuban Brothers at The Supperclub. In the day. My responce: 'Really?'. Their responce: 'Yes and you're coming.' So I went.

Beginning with a pub lunch at The Lonsdale and then drinks at The Electric to 'sauce us up' we then hit the club. Bizarre. I have to say I have never really been a fan of the London franchise of Supperclub; thinking it to be a freaky white room with bad food, wierd acts and a strange atmosphere. But going in the day was a different experience.

Walking in, there are no windows and people are already merry, a lot having been there for the pre-brunch food. You could easily think it was half three. Well it was, but in the afternoon.

But I easily got into the vibe of it and was straight on the dance floor with the rest.

And the best thing?! It finishes at 6, so you can be safely home to watch Sat eve X Factor AND feel fresh on Sunday.

Bl**dy brilliant.

It's the simple things in life....

I arrived home from work this eve and discovered a little surprise in the bathroom. It appeared in the form of Christmas themed loo roll. My housemate's purchase. This amused me greatly. How can you not smile at the completely unnecessary Christmas tree printed tissue with a festive red roll? And who cares if it's only October?! People fall into two categories; those who embrace Christmas cheer and all it's accompanying tack and those who hate anything and everything about it. Obviously I belong to the former party. Seasons greetings peeps!

Short shorts!

Picked up these super cute 'work wear' oversized dungarees shorts from Zara in the bang on trend camel colour. I am in love. Going to style them with my new platform boots, black tights, black cashmere v neck jumper (picked up from Uniqlo for £24.99 btw) and a bit of bling gold jewellery from Lara Bohnic. And maybe a blazer. For my serious fashion work face ;-).

Spotted!

It’s been a week of celeb spots for me. Yesterday after meeting friends in The Connaught Bar for a post work martini, I clocked to my left a sleek looking man surrounded by a pack of fashionistas. As the Connaught is usually more suited to ‘suits’, then a trendy crowd, I flashed my eyes back to the group. The man was Matthew Williamson. I did a sweep of the group with my eyes and yes, the petite blonde in the group was Sienna Miller. Two spots in one!

And then whilst taking an afternoon meeting in Harvey Nicks’ café, Gary Oldman was enjoying a spot of late lunch at the next door table. Just can’t get away from celebs these days. I wonder who I shall see next?!

The Social Network

Anyone who is a user of facebook must go and see this film.

It tells the story of Mark Zuckerberg the computer nerd founder who came up with the idea of facebook and how he faced legal battles with his peers who accused him of stealing their idea. Jesse Eisenberg is suitably fantastic at playing a near autistic Mark; he is genius and almost callous at the same time to the extent that you can’t help but admire him. The script was fast and slick. Essentially it had to make a story based on banal hours of writing internet code into something watchable and entertaining. It was. Justin Timberlake played the flash Sean Parker (inventor of Napster) well. The character’s bravado and confidence sucked Mark in yet he still showed an element of vulnerability.

And the film also introduced me to my new favourite thing: Armie Hammer who played the both of Winklevoss brothers. Hot

The bit of the film I appreciated most was the final scene. Mark stares at his ex girlfriend’s profile page. This is the girl who in the beginning scene understandably broke up with him for his infuriating behaviour, causing him to come up with the nascent concept of facebook; FaceSmash. The film ends with him adding her as a friend and then repeatedly refreshing the page to see if she accepts. An agonising wait. The context may have been different, but I can’t deny that I’ve been guilty of that in the past.

Cielo, Luxx Club

I was invited by a friend to join him for a ‘freebie’ dinner at Cielo above Luca Maggiore’s Luxx members club. I'm not one to turn a free meal down so naturally said yes please. As with any of these club dinners I was expecting a random night. I got one. Our host was Patrick Ribbsaeter of Maximise Promotions who runs upstairs. Our table was filled up with friends, photographers, girls, ‘characters’. Patrick who is half Swedish, half Thai began to explain how he came to be in England. He had fallen in love with Sara, (supposedly) Osama Bin Laden’s daughter and moved over from Thailand with her. One evening after a champagne fuelled evening she passed out. Patrick described how her driver/bodyguard did not want him to be with her so attacked him with a beer bottle. He fought back. The papers said she ended the relationship and Patrick didn't take fondly to this launching at Sara. The driver stepped in, punching him in the face and Patrick retailiated my smashing a wine glass into the driver's face and stabbing him. It ended up with him being tried for assault. He went to prison for 6 months before he was finally cleared. Check out the story:

Who are we to believe?!

His outlook was surprisingly upbeat and positive. He’s re-established himself and settled into a country that had 'wrongly' imprisoned him and where he knew no one. And despite being a little ‘wired’, he was an extremely nice guy with a kind and friendly demeanour. He looked after his guests and just wanted everyone to have a good time. I can’t see him as the type to commit unprovoked assault, but then I’ve also been told that he's the type that can occasionally flip. Who knows?!

These boots are made for walking.....

These bad boys are a new addition to my wardrobe. I LOVE them. I’m not a ‘pretty’ shoe kind of girl. I like the look of a dainty little heel but practically speaking, they just don’t work out for me for everyday. I walk everywhere and I need a shoe that will stand up to my stride! So these stomps are perfect for me. Chunky, comfy and the platform heel makes me super tall. I think I will rarely be seen without them this winter!
